Compunction - A Poem a Day #3

National Poetry Month day 3!
The title of
this poem is Compunction. In my collection Drowned: A Mermaid’s Manifesto, there
are a series of poems whose inspiration and titles come from the word of the
day screensaver on my computer. Compunction means, a feeling of
uneasiness or anxiety of the conscience caused by regret for doing wrong or
causing pain; contrition; remorse.
